The polar bear has the same name in the circumpolar Arctic, however spelled differently. In Western Greenland it’s called “nanoq”; in eastern Greenland it’s called “nanu”; in Nunavut, Canada, it’s called “nanuq” (Inuktitut) and in Alaska it’s called “nanuk” (Yupik).
